EYEWEAR COLOURS BEST SUITED FOR YOUR SKIN, EYE & HAIR COLOUR

Factors to consider to help you select an eyeglass colour flattering to you and your natural color palette

SKIN TONE

Categorised as either cool or warm. A cool complexion has pink or blue undertones while a warm complexion covers the peaches and creme palette.

EYE COLOUR

Subtle differences in the eye colour could change the tone from one to another. Bright blue would be considered to be cool, whereas, a pale blue grey would be considered as warm.

HAIR COLOUR

Identified as cool or warm. For instance, salt and pepper hair and ash brown hair are considered to be cool while golden blond and brownish black falls into the warm category.

Glasses best suited to warm tones

Blonde tortoise | Copper | Coral | Off white | Peach | Warm blue etc.

Glasses best suited to cool tones

Black | Blue grey | Dark tortoise | Magenta | Silver etc.

UNDERSTANDING FRAME SIZE

Besides the aesthetics, one must lay emphasis on the right fit. A set of standard parameters makes it fairly simple to select a frame size ideal for you.

LENS WIDTH

40 - 62 MM

It indicates the horizontal length of one lens of the eyewear that ranges from 40 mm to 62 mm. For eyeglasses, the average is 49 mm to 51 mm while for sunglasses, the average goes up by at least 2 mm to accommodate more coverage

BRIDGE SIZE

14 - 25 MM

It denotes the distance between the two lenses that ranges from 14 mm to 25 mm, the average size being 18 mm to 21 mm. A bridge with nose pads, however, should be preferred over one without them as it allows for a more precise fit

TEMPLE LENGTH

120 - 150 MM

It is the measurement of the length of either arms of the eyewear that wrap the ears and hold the frame. The average adult length ranges between 145 mm to 148 mm. Only if you have an exceptionally small or large face, should you consider a specific temple length

SELECTING GLASSES WITH THE BEST FIT

While our style consultants and technicians are always there to assist you to curate the ideal pair for you, there are a few rules of the thumb you should look out for while shortlisting through the gamut of options available

  • The centre of the lens should more or less coincide with your pupils

  • The width of the frame should not extend past the the width of your face

  • The eyebrows should not be covered with your eyeglasses and in the case of sunglasses, should be wholly covered or not covered at all

  • The fit should feel comfortable; neither so loose that they slide down the nose nor so tight that they press against the cheeks leaving a mark

  • The depth of the frames should not dig into your cheeks so as they get pushed up when you smile
